Skode's new "Salt Squares" contain no Dextrose, Sugar, Corn Syrup or Fillers of any kind!!! In fact, our new "Salt Squares" are made of 100 percent Human Grade and Organic whole foods and Certified Organic herbs with a combined sugar/starch combination of only 4.1 %
How did we do it?
We formulated our new "Salt Squares" recipe in conjunction with Cassie Schuster, a doctor of Naturopathy and a Master Herbalist in Texas:
"As a naturopath, I’m excited to be collaborating with a company that believes as I do: “real bodies require real food”. The top two ingredients in the "Salt Squares" – organic apple cider vinegar and ancient salt - are both critical to the nutritional richness of the Salt Squares.
"You won't find grocery store apple cider vinegar here. Skode’s is using an organic apple cider vinegar which includes all the minerals and trace minerals in a naturally occurring ratio that a living body can then tap into and utilize. The typical grocery store apple cider vinegar has been pasteurized which destroys all the nutritional value of it. The same goes for the salt: Skode’s is choosing to use an ancient salt, with all the minerals and trace minerals put there by nature, instead of a man-made chemical table salt. The value of this formula is in the ingredients – authentic, living food from which horses greatly benefit. "
Once a cancer patient, Dr. Cassie credits her passion for alternative health care to her own healing. We are extremely proud to announce Dr. Cassie's addition to Skode's Team of Experts.
FACTS ABOUT WORKING HORSES AND SALT:
When exercised intensely in hot, humid weather, a horse may lose up to four gallons of sweat per hour. In that four gallons, a total of 30 teaspoons of body salts are lost! (This does not mean you feed your horse 30 teaspoons salt, however!)
Horse care advocates should be careful in selecting a supplement. The first ingredient in many commercial electrolytes is not salt, but dextrose, a sugar.
WHAT'S IN SKODE'S SALT SQUARES?
The ingredients in Skode's new "Salt Squares" include:
Ancient Sea Salt (containing 60 trace minerals)
Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
Certified Organic Rosehips
Certified Organic Hibiscus Flowers
Human Grade Flax
A Proprietary Blend of 100% Natural Herbs & Spices
To aid recovery from sweat-inducing exercise, horses should be given preparations containing salt (sodium and chloride) as the first ingredient. The Ancient Sea Salt used in Skode's Salt Squares are 98.3 percent Sodium Chloride.
Only hydrated horses should be given electrolyte supplements/Salt Squares. Dosing severely dehydrated horses with electrolytes will likely transfer precious water from circulation to the gastrointestinal tract, thus compounding the dehydration.
Always provide plenty of fresh water when feeding Skode's Salt Squares!

"I couldn't believe my horses & donkey loved these cookies! Doc (my picky eater) hesitated a bit and I thought "Oh no! He's not expecting it to be salty" but he gobbled it up & in his usual demanding way asked for more.
Gus the donkey who has no qualms about spitting out (usually on my shirt or face) things he doesn't like, ate this cookie & brayed for more.
What a great way to provide our equines with the salt they need especially with the summer months around the corner. I can see these cookies in saddle bags of endurance riders & trail riders all over the world.
What a great idea! Always thinking of what is best for our horses.
SKODE YOU ROCK!
