In addition to the Equine Ambassador team of Cassidy Sitton and Prophet in North Carolina, Skode's has a second (and for now final) Ambassador team of Claire Cox Wilson and Doc in Arizona.
A few years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Doc and Claire in person. Doc has an amazing presence about him -- he is extremely intelligent and has a wicked sense of humor -- and the loving bond between he and his human, Claire, is quite obvious.
For years, Claire served as a facilitator on the internationally known Equine Cushings List co-owned and run by Dr. Eleanor Kellon, D.V.M. The list has more than 18,000 members world-wide and Claire served in her position with great commitment and fashion. These days, Claire holds the position of proofreader for Dr. Kellon's online nutritional classes (you can find out more about those at www.drkellon.com)
Here is a quote from Doc about his current lifestyle, translated via Claire:
"I live a pretty relaxed lifestyle but not because of my IR or PSSM ...but because of some serious degenerative joint disease in my fetlocks. I mainly hang out in our pasture with my buddy "Mr T". Sometimes the donkeys join us but they're kinda weird... those silly donkeys. They're real slow to make decisions those donkeys....have to ponder everything before they do it ...real thinkers.
Me ... I'm kinda of a spur of the moment type guy.
Two or three times a week my mom plays ground games with me in the arena but I really like it when my dad rides me around the neighborhood. I get alot of compliments because I'm so good-looking. I really like it when little children ooh & aah over me....he-he-he."
When Doc applied for the position of Skode's Equine Ambassador, I was quite thrilled. To have a human/equine team as experienced and knowledgeable as Claire and Doc is a blessing. The two create the perfect spokespeople for the low-sugar lifestyle and for Skode's treats, which they have been enjoying since the company's inception back in 2006.
Doc told Claire that he would like to start out his Ambassadorship with a photo story (Doc is a a proverbial ham and loves to have his photo taken). The words have been translated very carefully via Claire.
Enjoy!
Look what I found? Yummy.....Skode's Banana cookies! Just sitting there waiting for me......harmonium...could they be booby trapped?
Well ...rats! Wouldn't you know it? Here's Dad to dole them out... I knew it was too good to be true....a whole bag of Skode's cookies just for me....
My new ambassador position requires me to act with dignity & restraint...but what I really want to do is grab the bag and run.
Hopefully I will be rewarded for my admirable control & manners with the whole bag of cookies...I do deserve them after all.
Well...you can't blame a guy for dreaming....
Thanks Skode for making such yummy cookies!
Sending many slobbery horse kisses....
